It’s Hanna. As for today I’d write anything about self-care, as you can see, self-care is pretty important for ourselves. So I want to remind you how important it is for your health, mind, body, and all. You can read the picture above before start reading. I got it from tumblr user mypsychology, and its pretty much simple but also pretty much helps!
First of all what is self-care? By its mean, self-care is how you take care of yourself. Taken from Psych Central (psychcentral.com), Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety.
As you can see, self-care is an activity to keep yourself feeling happy, relaxed, and healthy both mentally and physically. Self-care can be as simple as spending 5 minutes to watch your Idols’ performances, or spending 15 minutes to watch a stand up comedy to make you laugh in between your busy activities. What important is, it’s something that can make you refuels and becoming more motivated to do your stuffs.
Stay hydrated is also an important self-care. Drink enough water! Every cells in our body depends on water we consume everyday to work properly. There’s an advice saying adults need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. But if you’re doing some exercises that make you sweats a lot, you need to drink more water to exchange of water you lost. Maybe you can try to make a list of what things you like to do and things you don’t like to do. If you’re in the middle of doing something but feeling exhausted, you can look at your list and do one of your favorite things that suitable for your circumstances. It can be playing mobile games, talking to your loved ones, or anything. As long as it can get your energy up again.
Self-care is also cutting ties with toxic friends, people you’re not comfortable with, not doing things you hate to do. But it is not a selfish act either. You hate to do homeworks? Yes me too. But we have to do them, just take a 10 minutes break to do something you like in between.
Self-care is also not being late to eat lunch or dinner. Just because you’re busy doesn’t mean your body will keep up with that empty stomach. Also eat nutritious foods, don’t eat that instant food every single day. Eat vegetables and fruit from time to time, your body need that a lot.
Self-care is also having time for yourself. Turn off your phone, read books, listen to music, draw something, get a long warm shower, eat chocolate, play games, take a walk, exercise, whatever, just have that time for you to be a good friend of yourself.
Plan for holidays after the semester ends, take your friends with you, have fun! Forget your jobs, your responsibilities or your studies for a while to get refreshed. You deserved a refreshing holiday after all works you have done in the whole semester.
Things I got from several articles I read about self-care, there are three main times for doing self-care. First, in the middle of doing your job. Take a break to do something that can make your energy up again. Second, after you finished doing your job. Get yourself a reward, do what you love! Third, a routine. Drink enough water, eat enough food on time, and do exercises from time to time, do any exercise you like, keep yourself healthy!
You deserve to be happy, self-care is important to maintain your motivation to do things, to refuels your energy, and not to get stressed out. It’s quite short but I hope it’s useful for you. I hope you can maintain your happiness and do your best in your jobs whatever you’re doing! Good luck!
